Kat
Parrish is the creative force behind the Mrs. Pea Children’s Book
Series. A native of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and a married mother of
three, Kat is driven by passion and love for all children to aid them in
understanding important life lessons often hard to grasp at young ages
and difficult to talk about with parents.
Witnessing first-hand the
ravaging affects abuse, grief and silence can wreck on the family
infrastructure and children’s psyche, Kat began to channel the painful
experiences of losing a son and helping heal an abused family member
into her artwork. A one-time major in Art Therapy, it was a way for her
to heal not only herself and her family, but to better communicate with
her sons the lessons she as a mother wanted them to learn.
And Mrs. Pea was created.
By
aiding children in understanding some important life lessons, Mrs. Pea
offers stories that build self-esteem, help children value their
importance in this world and develop the concept of family that is
‘safe’ to them. But there is more to the story. In addition to being a
mother, a sister and a friend; Kat Parrish is the future founder of an
organization that Mrs. Pea will help create where children can be
partners in detecting, deterring, and diminishing all forms of child
abuse.
This is her ultimate goal and her dream, and she invites you to
participate in the journey of shaping this dream into reality.
